A Death Warrant and Probity

Both are relevant to Bhisma Pithamahar!
Yudhistira: Dear Grand Father; Pranams; as long as you are the commander, we will not be victorious; please advise us!
Bhisma Pithamahar: okay, I have to protect Duryodhan and his team as the commander; so I will fight back against each one of you except Sikandi!

By telling this Bhisma wrote his own Death Warrant;

You all know what happened the next day;
Was Bhisma correct is giving this counsel?
Was he ethical by sharing strategic information pertaining to the safety of Kauravas?
Was it not treachery against Duryodhana?
Was Bhisma selfish in settling his karmic account with Amaba whose life was spoiled by him and who took a vow to avenge the wrong done to her by killing Bhisma?
So we conclude that Bhisma’s probity was doubtful;

So,  can we take the words of a person whose probity is questionable?
I am referring to Vishnu Sahasranamam;

We may one sidedly declare he was the greatest personality;

I do not buy any other theory

My theory

Duryodhana started doubting Bhisma’s unbiased state; he thought Bhisma was mild against Pandavas; he also thought unless Bhisma got removed as commander , he could not have Karna as the commander who would really fight the Pandavas;
A noble soul like Bhisma could not go wrong
Bhisma realized that his exit was sought after by Kauravas and Pandavas;
By issuing his own death warrant he did obey the defacto ruler Duryodhan which was his Vow( to stand by the throne of Hastinapur and protect its sovereignity)
By issuing his death warrant he obliged his other grand children, pandavas also
By issuing his death warrant he ensured the fulfillment of Amba’s vow whose life was unwittingly spoiled by him
Note: he gave the Vishnu Sahasranamam, after the last drop dripped out of his body which was Duryodhan’s salt
