Pradosh Koottu
Embodiments of Love!
Soak
channa dal for 8 hours;then cook in a cooker finely;
Steam cauli flower (1/2 will do); then cut it into pieces;
Cut one simla mirchi into small pieces; also cut 3 to 4 tomatoes
finely;
place a kadai ( flat vessel for frying) on the stove; add sesame
oil; then mustard and urud dal; after the popping up and reddening of dal add
mirchi and tomato pieces and cook with minimal water; while it starts boiling add the steamed and cut cauli
flower.
Cook well;
Smash the cooked channa dal; add this to the above mixture still
on the stove; mix thoroughly; add coriander leaves and curry leaves; serve hot
Note: 10th Jan 2017 was Pradhosham day; Santha is attending
exam; so I and Gayathri needed something for dinner and onion was to be
avoided; Santha used to prepare the best side dishes with or without
onion/potato base; to make a consistency of side dish compatible to Roti/
chapati i was forced to think a base and the above technique worked; since it
was created on a pradosh day i named it as " Pradosh Koottu
