Embodiments of Love!

To understand sloka 8, we should know something about “near death” experiences.

In the 1980s, Andrei Linde, scientist from the Lebedev's Institute of physics, developed the theory of multiple universes. He is now a professor at Stanford University.

Linde explained: Space consists of many inflating spheres, which give rise to similar spheres, and those, in turn, produce spheres in even greater numbers, and so on to infinity. In the universe, they are spaced apart. They are not aware of each other's existence. But they represent parts of the same physical universe.

Consciousness resides, according to Stuart and British physicist Sir Roger Penrose, in the microtubules of the brain cells, which are the primary sites of quantum processing. Upon death, this information is released from your body, meaning that your consciousness goes with it. They have argued that our experience of consciousness is the result of quantum gravity effects in these microtubules, a theory which they dubbed orchestrated objective reduction (Orch-OR).

Dr Hameroff told the Science Channel's Through the Wormhole documentary: "Let's say the heart stops beating, the blood stops flowing, the microtubules lose their quantum state. The quantum information within the microtubules is not destroyed, it can't be destroyed and it just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large". Robert Lanza would add here that not only does it exist in the universe; it exists perhaps in another universe.

If the patient is resuscitated, revived, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and the patient says "I had a near death experience"'

He adds: "If they're not revived, and the patient dies, it's possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body, perhaps indefinitely, as a soul."

The word “Siva” means literally, “that which is not.” Today, modern science is proving to us that everything comes from nothing and goes back to nothing. The basis of existence and the fundamental quality of the cosmos is vast nothingness. The galaxies are just a small happening – a sprinkling. The rest is all vast empty space, which is referred to as Siva. That is the womb from which everything is born; and that is the oblivion into which everything is sucked back. Everything comes from Shiva and goes back to Siva.

Sloka 8-Soundarya lahari

Transliteration

sudhaa sindhor madhyae sura vitapi vaatee parivritae
mani dweepae neepopa vanavati chintaamani grihae
Sivaakaarae manchae parama Siva paryanka nilayaam
bhajanti twaam dhanyaah katichina chidaananda lahareem. 8

Simple Meaning:

Only a few evolved souls are blessed to worship you Devi!
Oh! The unending flood of Eternal Bliss Absolute, You and Lord Siva sharing a same bed, with Siva himself as your resting couch which is of the shape of a triangle (the Sakti triangle), in a house decorated with several Chintamanis, possessed in the garden of Kadamba (kalpaka) trees, in the vicinity of a park of celestial trees, in the midst of an island in the ocean of amrita (ambrosia).

Explanation:

In an earlier sloka, we understood that Siva was at the feet of Mata Parvati;
Here Siva is the bed of Mata Parvati;
(In subsequent slokas we will see that Mata occupying or encroaching Siva’s other parts of the body)

Siva is the personification of Auspiciousness;
When He was at Her feet, He made Mata Parvati cool down;
Here by becoming the bed for Her, He gives her the comfort;
a person with proper rest is bound to be peaceful and blissful;

The above explanation could be from anybody; I was not happy with this.

Mata Parvati Devi is seated on NOTHING (please go back to the first paragraph in the beginning of this episode).

This account of quantum consciousness explains things like near-death experiences, astral projection, out of body experiences, and even
reincarnation without needing to appeal to religious ideology. The energy of your consciousness potentially gets recycled back into a different body at some point, and in the mean time it exists outside of the physical body on some other level of reality, and possibly in another universe.

Come back to the sloka;

Mata Parvati is seated on Siva
Siva is NOTHING….the body
Parvati is the consciousness..Life….Soul
The body could be any form…call it Siva or rajagopal or anything
Parvati is the life force sitting on the otherwise vegetative body
She is the quantum information encrypted into the microtubules of the body

She pervades the body

Note: Wife Santha is not well; my mind is not focused……forgive…I cannot add more to this sloka

Embodiments of Love!

I use to wonder whether Sankara, the saint really wrote this!

Before we get into sloka 7, let us read Khalil Gibran on Love:

( Note: Khalil Gibran refers to LOVE as a male; so you can see “he” in place of LOVE everywhere)

On Love

      Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love."

      And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell stillness upon them. And with a great voice he said:

      When love beckons to you follow him,       Though his ways are hard and steep.

      And
when his wings enfold you yield to him, though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

     And

When he speaks to you believe in him, though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

      For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you.

Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

      Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,  So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth. Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.

      He threshes you to make you naked.
      He sifts you to free you from your husks.
      He grinds you to whiteness.
      He kneads you until you are pliant;

      And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.
      All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.
      But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure, then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor, into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.

      Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

      Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; For love is sufficient unto love. When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God."

      And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

      Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.

      But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
·       To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to  the night.
·       To know the pain of too much tenderness.
·       To be wounded by your own understanding of love;

      And

·       To bleed willingly and joyfully.

·       To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for
·       another day of loving;

·       To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;

·       To return home at eventide with gratitude;

·       And then

·       To sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song  of praise upon your lips.

Sloka 7-Soundarya lahari

Transliteration

kwanat kaanchee daamaa kari kalabha kumbha stana nataa
pariksheenaa madhyae parinata sarat chandra vadanaa
dhanur bhaanaan paasam srunim api dadhaanaa karatalaih
purastaa daastaam nah puramathitu raaho purushikaa.

Simple Meaning:

May the Goddess, the consort and the very soul of Shiva,   appear before me, waistband tinkling , slightly bent by the weight of her breasts resembling the bulging forehead of an elephant calf, slim at the waist, face beautiful as the full moon and holding the bow, arrows, rope and ankusha  in her hands.

Let the Divine Mother dwell intimately in our hearts …with her tinkling fillet girdle, Her full bosom - akin to the frontal lobes of a young elephant - making her bend forward
(reaching us), Her lean waist enhancing her beauty, Her face akin to the full autumnal moon. She sports in her palms a bow and arrow, a noose and a goad. I revere this Divine
Mother who is the ‘I’ consciousness in the Lord, Parama Siva.

Explanation:
The big breasts symbolize motherly love;
Waist symbolizes beauty;
Glittering face symbolizes grace;
Arrow and bow that create love symbolize care;
Rope that ties the soul to the pillar of her feet symbolizes motherhood (so that the child does not get lost in the wilderness of worldliness)
Ankusa symbolizes authority;

Readers, remember that if we submit to a person, the above qualifications of the other makes the surrender a great love affair.

Beauty here is that breasts of Mata Parvati are compared to the bulging forehead of an elephant calf ;
She holds Ankusa which again is used to control an arrogant elephant;
So the same source of beauty which intoxicates me is controlling me also;
Only who have surrendered unto love can agree to my view.
