Ambience Of Serenity

Embodiments of Love!

I was reading an article on prudence/wisdom and was attracted to the episode on Kalidas and King Bhoj; beautiful!

One day Raja Bhoj entered his court and addressed the first wise man as “fool” (मूर्ख-murkha, in Sanskrit)
That man was shocked and did not say anything in return!
Raja Bhoj was disturbed as there was no response;
He turned to the next wise man and called him “fool”; same story
Then Raja turned to Mahakavi Kalidas, the blessed child of my Mother Kali!

Everybody was eager to know his response; Kalidas did not disappoint them; he replied:

Khadan na Gachhami, hasan na rajan,
gatam na sochami, krutam na manye
Dwabhyam trutiyo na bhavami rajan,
kim karanam bhoja bhavami murkha ?

Meaning:

I do not walk or laugh while eating,

I do not think of past

Or

Repent for what happened in past,

I do not butt in when 2 people are in conversation,

By what reason then Raja would I become a fool?

Upon hearing this King Bhoj was overjoyed and hugged Kalidas and explained what made him call the other wise men and kalidas( pundits) as  fools.

King narrated that after his morning ablution, he wanted to visit his wife and it was without any appointment; at that time Queen was talking to her friend; the king interrupted and tried to gain his wife’s attention forcefully; at that point the queen called him a fool; on hearing this king left that place and wanted to understand, why he was called a fool by the queen!

So there are some basic manners (etiquette) and system, applicable to all and the beauty of Sanskrit and intelligence of Kalidas!

Tail piece:

if the same would have happened in this century, the family court would have given a divorce to Bhoj and his wife and we would have missed the master piece of Kalidas( and of course you would not have to read another horrific episode from Rajagopal) ;

this is another message that underlines the greatness of mutual respect that prevailed in the earlier days!

Death Defying Acts-Part 17—To Be or Not To Be

Embodiments of Love!

Mata Amritanandhamayi Devi explains the goal in a very simple language which people like me can understand.

When we cross the lump of excreta the stench makes us to take a different route.

But Excreta may call out “Hey Friend, you said I am smelly, and no one should come near me; please remember, not too many hours before, I was a sweet smelling cake, colourful, fragrant and tasty fruit; after entering into people like you I became like this”

The simple truth is that we always blame something; we don’t remember our own state; if we can reflect properly on ourselves we will never be able to find fault with anyone else.

When I was thinking of becoming a witness, the question of forsaking Likes and Dislikes haunted me with the multiple options:

The above case of excreta gives an example—

is it that our likes and dislikes pertain to state of matter or state of our mind?
Let us take a case of a beautiful girl; anybody would be attracted towards her with many suitors in a big queue; in case she falls ill and turns weak and requires help for survival till death, how many of us would continue to have the same love and attraction?

A person while alive is venerated; if he dies within hours we just try to dispose of the body which was affectionate, successful, lovable etc ;

Did I love the body?

Did I love the thought of the person?

As ever, I am a confused person; to understand myself I wanted to have an explanation from Shri Adi Sankara.

त्यजाभिमानं कुलगोत्रनाम रूपाश्रमेष्वाश्रितेषु।
लिंगस्य धर्मानपि कर्तृतादिं स्त्यक्ता भवकण्डसुखस्वरूपः ॥
                            Vivekachudamani-297
Renounce your identification with family, lineage, name, form and order in Life,--attributes which pertain to the body, which is like a foul corpse.
So too renounce your ideas of agency etc which are attributes of the subtle body.
Thus realize your true essence as the attribute 0f Bliss itself!

To understand Adi Sankara’s above slokam from VIVIKACHUDAMANI—297, you have to refer to my earlier episodes to understand the layers of our body

Those who have not followed earlier episodes here is a recap:

1)     Soul—the real “I”.
2)      physical body which is identified wrongly as the real “ I”; in reality it is just a vehicle to carry out Karma
3)      Vital body ( the 5 energies which sustain Life and get released when I die and project “ Me” to the level of its power—PRANA, APANA, VYAANA,UDHAANA, SMAANAA),
4)      Subtle body--( this has subdivisions)
a)   The Mental Body or the Mind ( the first layer)
b)   The causal body or the Intellect, which is the Decision making process and reasoning ability)
c)   The supracausal body or the Subtle Ego, The feeling that we are separate from God
Bhagad Gita just gives the bulldozing effect to the above discussion:

samatvam yoga ucyate is an attractive phrase which gives the essence of philosophies:

योगथः कुरु कर्माणि संगं त्यक्तवा धनञ्जय
सिद्धयसिद्ध्योः समोभूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्य्ते॥
          Bhagavad Gita 2-48
Transliteration
siddhy-asiddhyoh samo bhutva

TRANSLATION
Perform your duty with equipoise, Oh Dhananjaya, abandoning all attachments to success or failure. Such equanimity is called yoga.

Death Defying Acts-Part 16—The Search For The Ultimate

Embodiments of Love!

coming back to isavasya Upanishad slogam 5

tadejati tannaijati taddure tadvantike |
tadantarasya sarvasya tadu sarvasya bahyatah || 5 ||

We have seen the 2 areas under Death Defying Acts Parts 13 and 14 respectively:

1)
that moves
that does not move
2)
that is far off
that is very near

The following has been in my mind for a long time; and I was not convinced with ordinary explanations

that is inside all
that is outside all

My observation is that the Supreme Personality as an entity should have an association with the self, when the same remains in a mortal body and also without body.

When scrambling for a solid source to clear my doubt, Mata  Parameshwari showed me a great treasure called Chandogya Upanishad!

Let us see Chapter 4-section 12-slogams 5 and 6

5.    Atha yo veda, idam manvaniti sa atma, mano'sya daivam caksuh sa va esa etena daivena caksusa manasaitan kaman pasyan ramate.
6.    Ya ete brahma-loke tam va etam deva atmanam upasate, tasmat tesam sarve ca loka attah sarve ca kamah, sa sarvams-ca lokan apnoti sarvams-ca kaman, yas-tam atmanam anuvidya vijanati, iti ha prajapatir-uvaca, prajapatir-uvaca.

Translated literally it says that the archetypes of things are perhaps visualized in Brahma-loka, not the reflections. The objects which we see in this world are not the originals. They are only reflections.

All the originals including those of myself and you are in Brahma-loka.

We are all reflections of the original.

We are all unreal bodies, apparitions in some respect, looking like very important persons.

Our importance is somewhere else and we are rooted in a higher realm. And we are even now connected with that realm.

Our legs are there though we appear to be moving here!

We are reflections and therefore distorted.

We are partial and finite, on account of which we are incapable of fulfilling our desires.

The original which is the whole, the infinite, alone can work. Reflections cannot really work as efficiently as the original.

Hence I conclude that “the inside and outside of all” mentioned in Isavasya  Upanishad ,is the reflection of the self which is inside the mortal body and the original in the Brahma loka outside our MORTAL BODY!

WARNING:

Chandogya Upanishad goes on suggesting that the concept of Brahma Loka is a state of consciousness only!

Brahma Loka is within the walls of our room!

It is just a higher frequency of consciousness, into which one can raise even here.

Hence I understand that

There is neither “Here” nor “There”
There is neither “then” nor “now”
There is neither “INSIDE” nor “OUTSIDE”

So fulfilling our wishes just depends on, where we exist ---inside or outside

Simply told it is a FREQUENCY setting!

Tune in properly and live like a King or Queen!

Hope I have confused sufficiently!

Death Defying Acts-Part 15— A few Remarkable similarities between LALITHAMBIKA and rajagopal

Embodiments of Love!

Each Namavali of Shri Lalita Sahasranamam is a special sweet to me.

When my wife Santha recites them I enjoy every Aksharam; (letter)!

In Indore, alone, I play my Mother’s Sahasranamam daily and whenever I want to talk to Her I speak to each of Her Namavali;

It is one of those great moments a son can have with his loving Mother exclusively!

Coming to the point, Lalitamma Herself is sweet.

The elegant starting with Sri Maatha; Sri Maharajni ….wonderful!

I was attracted to the special namavali “

GUDANNA-PRITA MANASAAYAI NAMAHA , which means one who is fond of sweet rice made with raw sugar!

I, myself being sweet-lover, wanted to understand the addiction of my Mother to sweets in particular and food in general!

Lol!

Lalithamma SAAPPAATTU RAAMI( Glutton)!

Sorry Moms!

I wanted to call Her aloud!

Amma bombarded

"Every day you describe me as the thousand-eyed One and you expect Me to look at you with the two eyes alone!"

“Okay idiot, talk about my gluttony!”

It was so profound and we enjoyed that little(? GREAT) conversation.

In Sri Lalitasahasranamam, Devi is honoured as "One who has a thousand Eyes." (Om Sahasraksyai Namah--283).

The eyes are many and so many folds are the Divine Grace.

I started collecting the Namavali of my Mother, Sri Annapoorneswari (Giver of Food) related to food, from Lalitha Sahasranamam!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am trying to compile in a poetical way.

Mother, forgive me for any trespassing!

It started with my wondering on,

501 * Gudanna preetha manasa - She who likes rice mixed with jaggery.

Oh, I understand Mother, why you always reside with me! Waiting for Pournamasya?

Oh your reply is also sweet!

Why?

You drink honey!

510 * Madhu preetha - She who likes honey

Oh I can make out your sweet nature now!

915 * Swabhava madura - She who is by nature sweet!

if you take so much sweet, your nature also has to be sweet Mother!

I heard you Moms, I know I have not finished!

You like variety rice:

526 * Hardrannaika rasika - She who likes rice mixed with turmeric powder!
492 * Sniggdowdhana priya - She who likes Ghee mixed rice!
480 * Payasanna priya - She who likes sweet rice (Payasam)!
533 * Sarvou dhana preetha chittha - She who likes all types of rice
(Sariyaana SAAPPAATTU RAAMI Nee Mother!)

Okay okay, I know for digestion what you take; that’s why I always tell you not to take too much of Sugar Dear!

512 * Dhadyanna saktha hridhaya - She who likes curd rice!

Yes, Curd rice only is not sufficient, as you have crores of homes where your other children offer you daily some special sweets; you need extra!

Okay, take this also!

26 * Karpoora Veedi Kamodha Samakarsha digandara - She who chews betel leaf with the spices which give perfume in all directions!

Oh the aroma stirs my soul Mother, you are so Divine!

I agree, you just don’t rest after eating so much but you distribute the same in multiples:

669 * Annadha - She who gives food!

( Oh Mother, I am waiting for the Day when you will arrange my plate and go on serving me with Love; when I refuse to take, you will not hesitate to feed me in my mouth with your golden hands!)

I understand the reason for the following:

7 * Chadur bahu samanvidha - She who has four arms!

You should ask my Periamma, KAALI and get Her 1000 hands for distribution, as 4 hands will pain after a while dear! Then I will have to massage your hands the whole day!

I thought we only as children were ready to grab the sweet cane during Makara Sankaranti Pooja; even after taking so much food, do you hold sweet cane as a supplement? what yaar?

10 * Mano Rupeshu Kodanda - She who has the bow of sweet cane which is her mind-in one of her left hands!

Okay where do you stay?

61 * Sudha sagara madhyastha - She who lives in the middle of the sea of nectar!

Purpose?

Areh dear still eating continues….!!!!!

90 * Kulamruthaika rasika - "She who enjoys the ecstatic state of oneness of one who sees, sight and what is seen or She who gets pleasure in drinking the nectar flowing from the thousand petalled lotus below the brain."

Oh, its from my brain, then it is absolutely okay Mother, I love you!

After eating so much of sweet things, you have to have a sweet voice Mother!

27 * Nija Sallabha Madhurya Vinirbhardista Kacchabhi - She who has voice sweeter than the notes produced by Sarawathi Devi’s Veena!(This is called Kachabhi)

Okay friends!

If my Mother likes all that sweet, Why not me?

... I love all that too"

Om Lokah Samastah Sukino Bhavantu.

Death Defying Acts-Part 14—Tech Bytes

Embodiments of Love!

Coming back to our discussion on Isavasya Upanishad slogam 2, the second part said (about the supreme personality)

that is far off
that is very near

isavasya Upanishad presents a monist ( non-dual) nature of the supreme personality.

It always explains that supreme being as un-embodied, omniscient.

If an entity is omniscient then it cannot be far away from each and every one of us.

Plausible meaning for this paradox what I deduce is as follows:
In His/Her Greatness the supreme personality is far above us
In His/Her Grace He/She comes very near us!

This above explanation is normally given by all religious leaders.

Being a supply chain person, I could think of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of a wireless non-contact system that uses radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data from a tag attached to an object, for the purposes of automatic identification and tracking.
Some tags require no battery and are powered by the electromagnetic fields used to read them.

Others use a local power source and emit radio waves (electromagnetic radiation at radio frequencies).

The tag contains electronically stored information which can be read from up to several meters (yards) away.

Unlike a bar code, the tag does not need to be within line of sight of the reader and may be embedded in the tracked object.
RFID tags are used in many industries.

An RFID tag attached to an automobile during production can be used to track its progress through the assembly line.

Pharmaceuticals can be tracked through warehouses.

Livestock and pets may have tags injected, allowing positive identification of the animal.

RFID tags can be attached to clothing, possessions, or even implanted within people, the possibility of reading personally-linked information without consent.

So our Almighty Boss can be far away and at the same time, be near, with his RFID control, linked to his Master Server.

Death Defying Acts-Part 13-Countering The Defence or Encountering an Offence?

Embodiments of Love!

In isavasya Upanishad slogam 5 is really driving me nuts!

(This slogam is a rhythmic beauty also)

tadejati tannaijati taddure tadvantike |
tadantarasya sarvasya tadu sarvasya bahyatah || 5 ||

that moves
that does not move

that is far off
that is very near

that is inside all
that is outside all

The juxtaposition of deadly opposites defies simple logic!

But our elders are not fools……….

Let us talk about “Movement”

Physics states that there is absolutely nothing that does not move to something else.

The sun is moving at an amazing velocity around the center of the Milky Way galaxy; the average velocity of the solar system is 828,000 km/hr. At that rate it will take about 230 million years to make one complete orbit around the galaxy.

And

The galaxy itself is moving relative to other galaxies.

One example of relative motion:

if we are driving our car at 50 miles per hour, that is not our absolute speed, it is our speed relative to the road.

we are moving at thousands of feet per second on the earth relative to the sun, and much faster relative to the galaxy and faster yet relative to other galaxies.

So is the sun moving?

Yes, *relative* to other objects. But there is no absolute motion.

But we are normally told that Sun does not move but only other planets move around the Sun!

Coming back to Isavasya Upanishad slogam 5:

Does that supreme personality, God move or doesn’t move?

If I am sitting inside a car which is moving, am I moving or not moving?
