Disowning the Near and Dear ---Part 3

Embodiments of Love!

"Et tu, Brute?" is a Latin phrase meaning "and you, Brutus?" or "you, too, Brutus?", purportedly  the last words of the Roman dictator Julius Caesar to his friend Marcus Brutus at the moment of his assassination.

The quotation is widely used to signify the utmost betrayal by an unexpected person, such as a friend.

Occurrence:  William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar,; Caesar utters these words as he is being stabbed to death, having recognized his friend and protégé Brutus among the assassins.

On March 15 (the Ides of March), 44 BC, Caesar was attacked by a group of senators, including Marcus Junius Brutus, Caesar's friend and protégé. Caesar initially resisted his attackers, but when he saw Brutus, he supposedly spoke those words and resigned himself to his fate.

Many things might have changed after Christ but betrayals continue to happen in spite of many preceptors, saints and Gods take births repeatedly but in vain.

Now listen to the following dialogue 1:

Father: you have ruined our property;

Son: it is mine

Father: there is nothing called yours; all are mine;

Mother: where is my share; don’t I own anything in this house?

Father: what did you bring when you got married to me? I have been feeding you for 29 years; I got you dresses; I made your life luxurious

Son: Mom, father is right, you have enjoyed your life with father’s money mother; you will continue to enjoy till your death; what else you want; what I lost is my share. (This is the only occasion that the son and father went together, that is against an armless and harmless lady)

Mother:??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (: crying from this moment till date;

Dialogue 2

Husband: what is it you have?
Wife: jewels

H: Give.

W: No, this is all I have for me and daughter’s marriage;

H: You bloody girl, just give it to me;

W: No, we are already in a ship that has been wrecked 

by the hurricane of troubles.

Husband snarls just crushes the hand of the wife who is taking meals after a day of Upavas; nails are broken; wife is recuperating.

Husband is a spoilt child from day 1.

His father finds a small girl of 13 for his wayward son of 30 years.

Husband is uneducated jobless

Wife is highly educated disciplinarian

Compulsion: Financial condition of the girl’s father and absence of her biological mother who passed away long back, leaving her only child to the vagaries of cruelties.

Duties:

Get up in the morning;

Tea

Cooking

Medicines to Father in Law/ Mother in Law// full attendance for their hospital visit/treatment/follow 
up/eye drops/ear drops/tea/food

Again cooking for lunch

Serving of food to all

Evening cooking

You may ask, “ wife has all the time in the 
world, she can do something”

Mmmmmmm wonderful thinking but reality is different.

Let us see the husband’s routine

Gets up at 2 pm (I mean 14 hours)

Have tea

Have bath at 3

Have lunch at 4

Chews Pan

Sits with parents for a few hours

Watches TV for a few hours

Goes out and gambles

Comes back;

Drinks

Have dinner

Again goes out and gambles

Comes back at 3 am ( next day as per English 
calendar); of course wife has to open the door 
and press his deserving legs as a dutiful wife of India.Goes to bed at 4 am, after completing a soul filling day.

Oh my God! you are right; he has never done any job worth its name.

Again do not wonder yaar, I understand what you are going to ask; wife has lot of time; husband has lot of time; they can enjoy their life; 
this is for hero and heroin in cinemas.

Here,the husband fills all the gaps, torturing wife with whatever that is possible starting from why tea is brown, why rice is cooked in cooker, what are you doing,whom you are talking to now, who is there with you on phone…..

So do not imagine that they have romance all the time whenever there is a gap

The monetary support is from the Father in law;

Now we will collate all the flash backs and realities that will culminate in the initial dialogue of this anticlimax write up

The mother( wife of husband) was banking on the son;

Made him study

Spent 28 years hoping son would be the dawn in her 

dimly lit hopeless life;

FIL started a business and love filled mother 

recommended son’s name for the business; business was 

started in his name;

Oh my God;

Son wiped off the full business and dissolved the business in a record one and half years;

Relatives started accusing the mother for the son’s activity’

Still she sided with the son religiously;

One day son ran away with some money which was left over;

Mother was worried about his safety;

She prayed for hours

Son did come

She was happy

Relatives assembled

Accused the boy and talked about the loss;

Now go to the top of this episode and fit those

The son has deserted the family after this fight

there is nobody, who ever liked or supported the son;

only the mother was the sole supporter

so son disowned his mother

the helpless mother,having undergone 

pain,torture, ridicule and belittlement, is clueless as to 

what is left with her in this life, as her only hope and 

beneficiary of her patronage has disowned her.

the pinnacle of this episode is that the family people are mounting more attacks on her for having supported this son.

she keeps declaring that after all it is her son;

 and

she prays and prays and prays

What made the Son to disown his loving mother?
