From Yajur Veda: A Great Prayer

Embodiments of Love!

I found this beautiful gem of a Verse in Yajurveda in the morning; even though I had a head ache, blurred vision and a bleeding nose I was so impressed with this that I just got into it after taking a plain tea without milk ;( I did not go outside to get milk)
The conventional internet meaning was not appealing to me; so with the blessings of my Mother Mata Amritanandamayi, made a personal study and I am presenting this Now!
As the examinations are on now, I pray my pet Mother Saraswati to always reside with all your children so that they perform well in exams and take care of you when you get older needing support!
Parents can also chant this on behalf of their wards.

यां मेधां देवगणाः पितरश्चोपासते।
तया मामद्य मेधयाSग्ने मेधाविनं कुरु स्वाहा॥
                                                                                                               ---यजुर्वेद ३२.१४॥
Transliteration
Yaam Maedhaam Devaganaaha Pitaraschopaasate I
Tayaa Maamadya Maedhayaagnae Maedhavinam Kuru Swaahaa II

--Yajurveda 32-14

Meaning
Hey Agni Bhagawan! That Intelligence/Wisdom, by which the Celestial bodies and Ancestors are nearby, by Her let the essence of Good Fortune( Wisdom) get encrypted! Hail Agni Bhagavan!

Beautifully made verse; indeed our ancestors were far ahead of us; let us appreciate their stuff

Word by Word Meaning:

याम् (यां )—— to which, who, that, whichever, whatever; this is the accusative form of यद्- yad
मेधाम्मेधां—wisdom; intelligence personified
देवगणाः—Devaganaaha--celestial band; divine beings
पितर:—pitaraha—forefathers, ancestors
-- Cha-  and
उप- अस् ( near-live)
ते -te –to you( dative case)

पितरश्चोपासते—is a compound word; it is split as pitaraha +cha upa+ asa+te: this means the celestial band (the previous word), pitaraha cha , upa asa, te

It is the beauty of Sanskrit to combine words and make new words;
Here we normally say I am on “upavas”; we mean to say I am on restricted diet and thinking of God bearing noble thoughts; but to be true to the terminology we need to be more of a satwa guna of the three gunas( Rajas, Tamas and Satwa)

तया—taya—by her , with her
माम्-maam—to me
अद्य—adya—now, today

मेध—medha--essence
अय—aya—good fortune, good luck
(अग्नि—Agni—Holy fire)
अग्ने—agne—Hey Agni Bhagavan

मेधा—medha—wisdom, intelligence
विनम् –vinam-- to change into a cerebral letter
कुरु—kuru—do
स्वाहा—Swahaa-- hail! hail to (Agni/Devatas)! May a blessing rest on!

धन्यवाद:

See you in the next episode
With lots of love
