Special Dosa - A Complete Recipe for a Befitting Sunday!

 Embodiments of Love!

Yesterday I was wondering while making Chapati as to why our ancestors used to make round ( circular)  Dosa, Idli, Chapati, Appalam.

Foreign Readers—please note these are Indian dishes which you might have tasted when you visited India; you are welcome to my hut when you visit India; I will personally make special Rawa Dosa and offer You; please take the help of Internet/ Wikipedia to get to know how a dosa would look like.

All these items could be made in a square form, rectangular form; why round?

I turned to my Holy Mother Abhirami, whom I love like my soul, I got the reflection!

On earth under Her divine dispensation, everything starts from a single point and ends there itself after the defined time!

Rajappa came alone without anything from a point and will go alone without anything to the same point; so a circle is complete; you may call it a Life Cycle; hence our Mothers have been reminding us while feeding also, this philosophy.

It gave me the inspiration to look to my Father Adi Sankara who within 32 years of existence made things upside down.

Sankara has a huge treasury.

One such jewel is Bhavani Ashtakam; Sankara never disappoints me.

न तातो न माता न बन्धुर्न दाता

न पुत्रो न पुत्री न भृत्यो न भर्ता ।
न जाया न विद्या न वृत्तिर्ममैव
गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि ॥
                                           IIभवान्यष्टकम्.१॥

Transliteration

Na Taato Na Maataa Na Bandhur-Na Daataa
Na Putro Na Putrii Na Bhrutyo Na Bhartaa |
Na Jaayaa Na Vidyaa Na Vrttir-Mama-Iva
Gatis-Tvam Gatis-Tvam Tvam-Ekaa Bhavaani

Bhavani Ashtakam--1

“ na “ appearing in juxtaposition means neither nor ( that is no body)

Meaning

Neither father nor mother, neither relative nor donor,

Neither son nor daughter, neither servants nor husband,

Neither wife/ lineage nor knowledge, and not even my age-increment/profession,post ,

Only Bhavānī! You are the Refuge, you are the Refuge Indeed      

Lineage means—paramparai; literally piravi gunam—born gunas or characteristics)

Word by word meaning

Na—no/not

Tataha—father (grammatically it becomes thathao in conjunction with na)

Na—no/not

Mata—mother

Na—no/not

Bandhu—relative

Na—no/not

Data—donor( giver)

Putraha—son(  as per conjunction rule it takes the form puto)

Putrii—daughter

Brutyaha—servant( male)

Bharta—husband

Jaya—there are 2 meanings—one is wife other is Lineage—Family Tradition (valarppu in Tamil—that is brought up or paramparai in Tamil)

Vidya—knowledge

Vritti—being, state (philosophically considered as aging; ) it means profession, earnings also

Mama—my

Eva—only

Gatihi—refuge( the visarga -: along with the consonant of “ th” of thwam makes the combination gatisthwam—you are the refuge)

Thwam—you

Thwam--you

Ekaa—one (feminine gender)—it means only here
